Our Story (how it all started)

1K Campaign
Inspired by the actions of a student group in Colorado, the 1K CAMPAIGN is an effort to see 1000 student groups complete 1000 orphan projects in 1000 days. But it’s about so much more than a number. It’s purpose for our young generation and hope for the orphan. It’s pure religion (James 1:27). It’s spending ourselves for the good of others (Isaiah 58:10). It’s about the Father and all of his children knowing him.
1000 Student Groups
A Heartwork group can be a group of a few friends or an organized group like a school club, a church group, sports team, etc. Student groups are being rallied from around the country to live out our faith. James 1:27 says, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” Imagine what we could accomplish if our generation came together as one with a clear and focused mission to reach out to those of our own generation around the world who desperately need a helping hand. Heartwork is a tangible way to put action to belief, and to have a powerful impact on countless lives around the world. As we give of ourselves, our lives are changed… Destiny Rescuing Destiny.

1000 Orphan Projects
Choose from 10 project categories in countries all over the world. Costs range from $100-$50,000. By caring for the basic needs of the orphans we can help give them what they need most...the knowledge that they do have a Father who loves them and has a destiny for each one of them. Projects on the Heartwork site come directly through partnership with The Christian Alliance for Orphans. The Alliance is comprised of more than 80 orphan-serving organizations working vigorously to rescue vulnerable children in countries around the globe.

1000 Days
It’s estimated there are over 160 million orphans in the world today. That’s more than double the minor population of the United States. Over 20,000 children die each day from malnutrition and preventable diseases. Millions are being forced into prostitution and slave labor. Most of us cannot even imagine the fear, vulnerability, and hopelessness they deal with each day. The situation is an urgent one, with the lives of desperate children at stake. The time is now to direct our resources, talents, and energy towards what really matters. We cannot wait any longer. With passion, urgency, diligence, and faith, we will see miracles as we fight for the destinies of these precious children. The IK Campaign began on June 26th, 2010 and will end on March 22nd, 2013.
