Terms of Use & Private Policy

We’re so happy to see you joining the Heartwork family! Hopefully you’re on your way to rallying some friends and adopting a Heartwork project. Here are a few things you may be wondering about our systems:

Communication
We will not fill your inbox with tons of junk but we will be in touch by text and email with info about your project and Heartwork events.  We may pass your info along to the orphan-care organization whose project you’ve adopted.  Another great way to hear about what’s going on with Heartwork would be to join Heartwork’s Facebook page.

Where Projects Come From
We are partnered with the Christian Alliance for Orphans and all of the projects listed on our website come from orphan care organizations within that Alliance. Heartwork is not a missions or orphan-care organization.  We simply spread the word about these incredible orphan-care organizations to student groups around the country.  We rally, educate, support, and provide easy on ramps for you to connect with these organizations.

Fundraising
You and your group are responsible for raising 100% of the funds to complete your adopted project.  You can raise the funds in whatever ways you’d like.  You can give with a credit card online through your project page, or you can raise the money at home and send a check to Heartwork.  Feel free to send in the money little by little along the way.  We’ll keep track of it for you until your project goal is complete and then send it on your adopted project!

How The Job Gets Done
The average amount that our partner orphan care organizations need to cover their overhead costs (like paying for staff, getting the word out about their orphan work, etc) is 20%.  We don’t want to take any additional fee, so when you adopt a project through Heartwork the sponsoring orphan care organization simply splits their 20% admin fee with Heartwork.  Every organization is a little different, but we maintain all of our projects at a maximum of 20% for overhead.  So 80% (or more) of what you raise goes directly to the field.  The rest goes towards getting the job done!  We spend our 10% on credit card fees (3%) and on our efforts to rally other student groups to join the movement.  Most of Heartwork’s budget is covered by donations.  If you’d like to give to Heartwork’s operations please do so on the “Donate” page.  We always appreciate it!

Incomplete Projects
If your group remains inactive for one year we’ll assume that you were unable to complete your project for some reason and will transfer any funds that have already been donated towards your project to whatever project we feel is most urgent.

Your Responsibility
As Heartwork strives to provide ideas and opportunities for you and your friends to raise money for your project and to relate to orphans around the world (such as with 30 Days of Heartwork), we ask that you please be smart in how you participate.  Don’t get yourself into dangerous or compromising situations as you’re engaging in 30 days of Heartwork or fundraising!  Whether it’s fasting meals, fundraising in public, or raising awareness in your community, we want you to be smart and safe.  Be sure to run your brilliant ideas by a parent or another trusted adult before going out and doing them!
